Annelis Thorsen-Cavers is an income partner with the firm. Since her call to the Ontario Bar in 1999, Annelis has turned her talents to supporting Rochon Genova's commitment to pursuing class action litigation. Annelis joined the firm in 2002, having practiced litigation as an Associate at other prominent law firms.

Educational Background

Annelis is a graduate of the University of Waterloo (B.A., Hons. in Social Development Studies, 1994) and received her LL.B. from the University of Windsor in 1997. While at Windsor, Annelis placed second in the Arnup Cup Trial Advocacy Moot Competition.

Annelis is a member of the Advocates' Society, where she helped organize a forum on civility in the profession for intermediate members. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association.

Publications, Presentations and Key Cases

Annelis has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, as well as the Ontario Financial Services Commission and since joining Rochon Genova, has been heavily involved with the firm's various class actions, including Wilson v. Servier Canada Inc., Coleman et al. v. Bayer et al., Egglestone v. HMQ, Boulanger v. Johnson & Johnson, Ledyit v. Bristol-Myers Squibb et al. Annelis is also co-author of The Emotional Consequences of Personal Injury, 2nd ed., along with Joel Rochon.

Community Involvement

Annelis is fluent in English and French and is committed to various charities, including Amnesty International, Habitat for Humanity, Toronto Hospital for Sick Kids Foundation, Medecins sans Frontieres and Foster Parents Plan.
