Doctors in Ontario can penalize themselves, privately

On Behalf of | Dec 19, 2015 | Personal Injury |

Getting a serious injury is painful and can affect you for months and even years later. If you have to see a doctor and you have become injured you may want to get in touch with a worthy lawyer who knows how to handle a situation like this.

Did you know that there are approximately 40 obstetricians and gynecologists in Ontario who are licensed to practice, even though they have restrictions or negative comments and findings in the past? It is true. The courts have found them to be negligent and all of them have caused injury to patients. The conduct of the physicians that triggered the findings are from medical negligence and sexual abuse. In all, there are 985 doctors who practice in the OB/GYN arena in Ontario.

The scope of the complaints by patients is, as usual, cloaked in secrecy because it can be embarrassing for the one receiving the poor care or who has been victimized sexually.

It really isn’t possible to determine how many doctors in Ontario are the subject of repeated patient complaints because the information has not been released by the College of Physicians and Surgeons. If you make a complaint then you personally are contacted as to penalties that are assessed, but the general public is not notified at all.

Doctors are allowed to personally apply penalties on their practice without letting anyone know why or what the penalty is. Again, it seems a bit over the top to not publicize the reasons why penalties are assessed, but, for now, that is the way it will be.

A legal professional can help you get recompensed for shoddy medical work. There are steps that you can take to ensure that your medical bills are paid and your lost wages are paid to you.
