Biman Bangladesh Airlines Flight BG060 Crash
On May 8, 2019, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft crashed at Yangon Airport in Myanmar. The Bombardier Dash-8 plane skidded off the runway on landing, which was reportedly due to inclement weather. There were 33 people on board, two of which were children; no fatalities were reported, however, most passengers and crew were injured and many have been hospitalized.
The Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft was traveling from Dhaka Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport to Yangon International Airport that evening. As the plane came into land at the airport, it skidded off to the left side of the runway, leaving the tarmac and crashing into the grass. The skid caused the undercarriage of the aircraft to collapse.The fuselage broke into three and the aircraft lost its wings.
The flight operation of Yangon International Airport was suspended following the accident.
