Oxy Settlement Agreement – Signed March-8-17

Oxy Settlement Agreement – Signed March-8-17

The parties have reached an agreement to settle multiple proposed class actions commenced across Canada relating to addiction-related harms allegedly caused by the drugs, OxyContin and OxyNEO. The settlement agreement is conditional on it being approved by the courts of Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. The settlement agreement can be viewed here.

If you have already provided us with your email or mailing address, you will receive (by mail or email) official notice of the national settlement agreement. The notice will provide you with a summary of the key terms of the settlement agreement and will provide you with information about your rights to opt-out of or object to the settlement. Notice will also be published in newspapers and online, and will be posted on this website when it becomes available.

Again, and as the notice will set out in further detail, the courts of Ontario, Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, Quebec will have to approve the settlement for the settlement to be final and to have effect. The hearing dates for settlement approval are July 18, 2017 in Ontario, August 1, 2017 in Nova Scotia, August 9, 2017 in Quebec, and August 24, 2017 in Saskatchewan. These dates will be listed in the notice.

If the proposed national settlement agreement is approved, a further notice describing the process for submitting claims for compensation will be distributed.
