Experienced Guidance, Trusted Support

Canadian citizens and permanent residents may be able to sponsor family members for permanent residency in Canada under the condition that they meet the requirements. To qualify as a family class immigrant, an individual must be related to their sponsor in one of the following ways:

  • Spouse, common-law, or conjugal partner
  • Dependant child
  • Parent
  • Grandparent
  • Siblings, nieces or nephews, and grandchildren who have been orphaned, are under the age of 18, are not married, and are not in a common-law relationship
  • Other relatives, related by blood or adoption, if you do not have living relatives in the aforementioned categories

If a relative satisfies the above requirement, other factors such as income, criminal background, and medical history will be taken into consideration. As a potential sponsor, you are also required to meet certain conditions related to age, commitment to financial support, and a proven willingness to remain in Canada.
